EC Announces Dates for Registration of new Voters, Replacements: All you Need to Know

 Mrs. Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, revealed during a press conference in Accra on Thursday that the EC would begin registering new voters from September 12, 2023 to October 2, 2023 at its 268 District Offices. This is to pave the way for citizens who have attained the ages of 18 years and above to register in order to participate in the District Level Elections.  The EC has set Tuesday, December 19, 2023 for the 2023 District Level Elections.  Members who were elected in 2019 and whose terms end in December of current year will be replaced by newly elected members. The polls would be held in all 6,272 electoral zones, with the exception of Nkoranza North and Nzoranka South in the Bono East Region, according to the EC. Kennedy Agyeapong does not Qualify to be the NPP's Flagbearer let alone President of Ghana: Bongo Ideas Fires

Self-acclaimed Ghanaian influencer and social media pundit, Albert Nat Hyde, popularly known as Bongo Ideas has taken a subtle dig at the Member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency and aspiring flagbearer of the New Patriotic Part (NPP).  Kennedy Agyeapong is one of the leading candidates in the race to the flagbearersgip of the NPP. The MP has in numerous occassions expressed his readiness to become the president of Ghana and to drive economic development, depite the fact that his government has failed to bring same to the Ghanaian citizen.  Bongo Ideas decided to add his voice to the debates of who will make a better candidate for the NPP and president of Ghana.  The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has released a series of official documents to support his allegations of bankruptcy at BoG from an initial 81 million US Dolars to 121 million US Dollars and further threatening to escalate.  It would be recalled that on Wednesday August 16, 2023, the MP announced that he will be publishing some documents on a public office for perusal by the public as part of his parliamentary oversight as an MP. The Youth wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has threatened t take drastic measures to compel the government led by Nana Addo/Bawumia to drop the 10% withholding tax imposed on bet winnings.  In a press release signed by the National Youth Organizer, George Opare Addo released in the early hours of Wednesday, August 16 2023, a warning was served to the government and its officials to as a matter of urgency hear the voices and demands of young people people and withdraw the tax.  According to the Youth Organizer, "in the face of the unjust TEN (10%) taxation on bet wins, we the young people of Ghana and the NDC Youth, declare a resolute series of actions to resist this burdensome and insensitive policy." Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has thrown subtle shades at the President's cousin, Gabby Otchere-Darko in late hours of Tuesday, August 15, 2023.  Earlier in the day, Ghanaweb published a news story which indicated that according to the Member of Parliament, his "Kitchen Cabinet Scandal" has compelled the government to back down from paying GH¢ 187 million judgement debt. Reacting to the publication on X (formerly Twitter), Gabby Otchere-Darko who was the main subject in the alleged scandal responded that the MP created a scandal against his own NDC. The Gory Accident that Claimed the Lives of Saboba District Officials

Two Saboba District Assembly officials, the District Coordinating Director, Zakariah Abdulai, and the Internal Auditor, Bakari Gan, were killed in a car accident while going from Tamale to Saboba on official business on the Tamale-Yendi road in the Northern Region.  According to the information gathered so far, the vehicle in which they were traveling in collided with an incoming car. The collision occurred on Monday, August 14, in the afternoon. According to Mohammed Fugu of Graphic Online, the District Chief Executive, George Bingrini revealed that the deceased's bodies have been carried to their hometowns of Damongo and Bole for burial in accordance with Islamic custom.  Meanwhile, images from the scene shows a completely mangled  pick-up truck believed to the one in which the officers were traveling. Road accidents  have been on the rise in recent months, with many high profile politicians  being among some of the casualties.
