Government Freezes August Salaries of Striking CETAG Members

The Controller and Accountant General has been ordered to not validate or pay CETAG members salary for the Month of August.

According to a letter addressed to the Controller, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) dated August 21, 2023, indicated that the letter was issued at the insistence of the Minister of Education.

The letter ordered that the monthly salary and allowances for the Month of August should not be paid to the Teaching Staff of all 46 Colleges of Education (CETAG).

The letter directed that any arrears before the month under reference should be paid.

This comes after the Ministry of Education earlier argued that CETAG had embarked on an illegal strike to demand that government uphold its sife of an agreement with the  implementation of agreed conditions of service.
