Richard Nyamah: We Have Lost Confidence in the Party's Systems
Richard Nyamah, a member of the campaign team for Alan Kyeremanten has stated that they have lost confidence in the party's (NPP) systems and the way they conduct their elections.
Mr. Nyamah was speaking in an interview with Metro TVs Bridget Otoo when he raised these concerns. He revealed that even though the election was properly planned, based on certain rules and guidelines which were meant to make the elections successful and credible, its implementation was very different.
His concernes comes at the back of alleged attacks on some agents for Alan Kyeremanten during the party's super delegates congress, which happened in North East and some part of the Northern Region. The said agents were alleged to have been assaulted, with some of the victims receiving medical treatment.
"The police stood by when our agents were beaten mercilessly, and they couldn't give a hoot. I complained personally to the Regioanl Commander to be given protection but he told me his interest was in the ballot box", he lamented.
He further alleged that "we are certain in our mind that this was an orchestrated thing across the regions." When the host probed to find out who was behind the orchestration, he stated that he believes it was the establishment (the party).
Mr. Nyamah complained that the party should have released an official communique denouncing the attacks and also sympathize with the victims who are registered party members, but nothing like that has been done.
Earlier, Alan Kyeremanten visited the victims of the alleged attack in the hospital, where he also condemned the indiscipline that has found its way into the party establishment, and vowed not to tolerate it.
The NPP superdelegates congeries, which saw the incumbent Vice President Dr. Bawumia emerge as the top aspirant has been characterized by confusion and allegations. Hon. Kennedy Agyeapong was one of the aspirants who also raised concerns about the process.
