KNUST Day of Giving: Management Set to Raise Funds to Build 2,000-bed Capacity Hall of Residence for Students

Management of the Kwame Knrumah University of Science and Technology have announced the establishment of KNUST Day of Giving to raise funds for the construction of an ultramodern 2,000-bed capacity hall of residence for students.

The official day set for the 24hour global online fundraising of the KNUST Day of Giving has been slated for Friday, 6th October, 2023 after the Chancellor earlier officially launched the initiative.

"The objective is to rally as many people as possible to create the single biggest donation in KNUST’s history and, in turn, create an unprecedented wave of support that will culminate in raising GHS 200m towards the construction of a 2000-bed capacity Hall of Residence facility for student accommodation on campus", part of the publication on the official website of the University read.

According to the VC, Professor (Mrs) Rita Akosua Dickson, "the KNUST Day of Giving is a 24-hour global online fundraising initiative, scheduled for Friday, 6th October, 2023. It is a day set aside by KNUST for her alumni, friends and stakeholders such as staff, students, parents, neighbours and business partners to show appreciation to the University."

Accommodation has been a major problem in KNUST, with the limited bed spaces on campus forcing students to seek accommodation outside of campus at higher prices and high security risks. Management has been exploring ways of solving this challenge, with private investors being encouraged to invest in this venture.
